Today I blog with you in between glossing the bathroom doorway, and painting the laundry room....( I like to call it the laundry room. It sounds ............ like I have wicker baskets full of starched white linen, various appliances, space to hang said linen on an old fashioned victorian wooden clothes airer. The reality is in fact, no more than a cupboard really. Room for the ironing board, hoover, perhaps a washing machine soon, but I like LAUNDRY ROOM..........sounds grand...)
School is going well for the girls, they come home happy and smiley.
So saturday we decided as a treat ( for all actually) that we would go to the South Petherton carnival.
In the west country this is a BIG tradition. Floats pulled along by 4x4's and tractors are adorned with children/adults singing, dancing, with music and lights ...and it's all just a bit of good fun.
The Bournemouth band dressed as Spidemen were so funny playing lots of tunes for the children...
Have you guessed the song?........................................Singing in the rain of course!
If you are down this way and get the chance this time of year....you must go to a carnival. They are usually in every town throughout the Autumn term, each town is a little different, larger, smaller, busyier, quieter, but the bumblebee's love it. ....Tacky? Yes, but that's the beauty of things like that is'nt it?
What else did we get up to this weekend?........
seriously easy vanilla biscuits....
4oz butter
2oz caster sugar.
6 oz Plain flour.
Pinch of salt.
vanilla extract.
Heat oven to 180c/Gas4.....place baking paper on two baking trays. Beat butter and sugar together until creamed. Add sifted flour and salt and mix.Add the vanilla extract ( I use nielsen massey ) and form into a dough. On a floured work surface roll out and use desired cutters. bake for 10-15 mins until lightly golden. Cool and decorate to taste! EASY!!!!!!! ( also perfect for Christmas time with gold and silver balls to decorate for visitors )
Planting up of the lovely Laura Ashley baskets.... pretty, pretty...
And Matilda's first school project!!! An all about me box.
Containing ( uuuhummmm clears throat )
The gruffalo.
Ballet shoes.
A butterfly.
Family and pet pictures.
A Sylvanian.
A spider.
A mushroom.
( spider and mushroom were dislikes!)
All chosen by the bumblebee herself, to be shown at school today.
It got me thinking.
What would I have in an all about me box?
And what would you have?....................
Hummmmmmm homework for the next post?
